It is the white variety that the world knows most. It achieves well adaptation in most zones. In Argentina it is appreciated for its ability to ripen and to produce a wide range of wines, from bases for sparkling wines to strong varietals fermented in oak barrels, also for fresh and elegant wines without wood.
Its frequent features are tropical fruits and touches of apple.
History: a recognized French grape, it is recently implantated in Argentina from selected clones.
Surface: 4,625 hectares.
Leaf: little folded medium-sized, shiny green and whole.
Cluster: small, quite full although loosely and short coned.
Berry: golden yellow, small with soft pulp.
Wine: golden with amber reflections. Fruity aromas with touches of pear, pineapple, green apple and ripe banana; with aging, there are lactic notes, walnuts and almonds, toasted bread and vanilla.
