Argentina is the homeland of many outstanding professionals like Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortazar, Juan Manuel Fangio, Diego Maradona, Football and Tango. It is the country of getting together with friends, of barbecues (“asados”), Carlos Gardel, nature, passion, and where soccer dominates daily conversations. It is a country of diversity and contrasts, with a large national area covering 2,791,810 square kilometres of continental lands and 973,331 square kilometres corresponding to the Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands. Argentina has a population of over 38 million inhabitants.

The country’s ethnic and cultural origins have been greatly influenced by European immigration -mainly Italian and Spanish, who came to the country during the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

Along with this legacy, cultural expressions from copper-colored native people, siblings of the elements-earth, air, water, fire- still survive.
