The high altitudes are a constant presence and the colorful mountains the context. Catamarca invites people to go over and discover mystic and millennial ways that open up the sense experience.
This land of contrasts finds its natural balance between the abrupt extreme of the Andes and deep green of the valleys. The healthy and clear sun and the sweet moon embellish the harvest celebration, where the small boutique wineries respect every feature of its centenary labor. Thus, the selected grapes keep their qualities intact and give birth to excelent wines, among which the Torrontés Riojano (Torrontés form La Rioja Province) stands out.
Due to its great archeological richness this province has been categorized as one of the major history reserves in Argentina. Museums that exhibit pieces of world value, aboriginal ruins and places preserved throughout time, constitute some of the principal cultural circuits in Catamarca, a region where also a great part of colonial architecture persists.
And for those lovers of nature in its pure state, the region offers the incomparable beauty of the Pissis mount and the Ojos del Salado Volcano, which disputes the position of being the highest pick in the West Hemisphere with the Aconcagua. The green lagoons, thermal waters with recognized therapeutical properties and the incredible land formations complete a mystic and moon-like landscape.
