Salta, beautiful by nature. So beautiful that you fall in love with it. Salta is characterized by its landscape diversity, a strong tradition and an important cultural legacy. Its territory has a great morphological variety and a climate range of great contrasts over which warm valleys, green tropical jungles and Andean deserts extend.

The exquisite combination of climate, sun, soil, vines, human experience and specially altitude (here are the highest vineyards in the world, which, in many cases exceed the 3,000 meters above sea level), make of Salta, and specially the Calchaquíes Valley, a vinicultural oasis which produces excelent high-end wines, specially the internationally renowned and prize-winning Argentinean Torrontés. All these within a frame of an exquisite thousand color landscape chiseled by time and winds.

If you are still not in love, the majestic “Tren a las Nubes” (Train to the Clouds) will undoubtly awake a sea of sensations. Its amazing tour will take you up to more than 4,100 meters of altitude, going through paths and bridges with clouds underneath, beautiful green valleys and the colorful sides of the omnipresent mountains.

Program

Day 1: We will be waiting for you at the airport or bus station of Salta city. Our guide will welcome you and take you to the hotel selected for your check-in. In the afternoon, we will visit the city of Salta and its surroundings, specially the MAAM (Museo de Arqueologia de Alta Montaña / High Mountains Archeology Museum) which hosts the almost 500 years ancient mummies of Llullaillaco, three human bodies exceptionally preserved by cold. The tour continues along the places to visit and monuments of the region, the historic city center, ascension to San Bernardo Mount and the handcraft market. Return to the hotel.

Day 2: Breakfast at the hotel. We will pick you up in the morning and take you to the train station of Salta city to take the famous “Train to the Clouds” tour. This is the most amazing train in the world, the one that reaches the clouds ascending to 4,200 meters of altitude in a route of 434 km (both ways). It is one of the three highest trains in the world and it goes along vertiginous mountains of the Andes, throughout spectacular landscapes. The tour finishes at night. Return to the hotel. 

Day 3: Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out and transference to the city of Cafayate, wine emblem area in Salta and birthplace of the Argentinean Torrontés. This little city is located at the heart of the Calchaqui Valley and the beauty of their landscapes, the goodness of the climate, its excelent wines and the kindness of the people there, are some of the reasons why tourists from the entire world choose Cafayate as their destination. During the journey we will admire the shapes and colors of this mountain geography chiseled by the winds and the sun. Once we arrive to Cafayate we will check-in at the selected hotel and in the afternoon we will make our first visit to one of the selected wineries.

Day 4: Breakfast at the hotel. Then we will continue the tour in two of the most important wineries of the region. We will be able to enjoy and learn about Argentina wines, specially the famous Torrontés, and about how enologists found the optimum height for vineyards in rock and sand soils with deep slopes. We will also share a talk about tasting techniques and taste the wines of our host. Then, we will enjoy lunch within the grounds of the winery. Finally, return to the hotel. Check-out and return to the city of Salta. End of our services.
